EXTENDICARE KAPUSKASING – MEDIA UPDATE continue

As of 11:00am today, we have no new cases to report among our residents. In total, we continue to have 3 residents with active cases of COVID-19 in our home, one of whom remains in hospital. All residents continue to isolate in their rooms, where they are being provided with meals and individual care and support. continue

Unfortunately, one of our residents with a resolved COVID case passed away yesterday afternoon. We have been in touch with their family and have offered our heartfelt condolences on behalf of everyone in our home who knew and provided care for them. continue

We have now received the majority of results from yesterday’s staff testing clinic, and all have come back negative. We continue to have a total of 9 active cases among our staff, all of whom are in self-isolation and being followed by Public Health. All staff remain cohorted to a single area in the home to help prevent spread between home areas. continue

EXTENDICARE KAPUSKASING – MEDIA UPDATE continue

We have received the results from yesterday’s swabbing of negative residents as well as from our weekly testing of all staff. All results have come back negative. As of 11:00 am today, we have no new resident or staff cases to report. continue

We continue to have 3 residents with active cases of COVID-19 in our home, one of whom is in hospital. All residents continue to isolate in their rooms, where they are being provided with meals and individual care and support. continue

We continue to have 9 active cases among our staff, all of whom are in self-isolation until they are cleared to return to work by public health. All staff in the home remain cohorted to a single area to help prevent the potential for spread between home areas. continue

Extendicare Long-Term Care Staff Testing Program continues to protect Ontario’s residents

The COVID-19 pandemic hit long-term care homes hard around the world. It’s an aggressive virus that poses a huge risk to us all, but especially to the health of seniors. continue

Extendicare moved quickly in early 2020 to secure personal protective equipment supply lines and establish protocols with public health officials to protect the people we care for. Informed by our experience in the first wave of the pandemic, we knew we had to get ahead of the virus to better ensure the safety of the residents in our homes. continue

This home is like my home. We are well looked after. The friendly, hard-working and hospitable Extendicare team keeps me on my toes. I enjoy socializing in the friendly areas, dining with friends and family, gardening and going out shopping. I love to be busy. I am comfortable here.

We knew from the first day there was something good going on here. Starting with the team of people that welcomed dad into Extendicare and with the care they took to get to know him, his past, his likes and his family, this indeed meant a lot. It was a great comfort.
